A very early start for a wonderful scenery appreciation and island experience this Summer. Option to disembark and spend a few hours on Tiree ( the most westerly inner Hebridean island) or continue on to Barra. This means staying overnight in Oban on the 23rd due to the early start and on the 24th after a wonderful day out. Please note that this meet up is weather dependent thus if inclemency is forecast then the meet up will be liable to cancellation. Plenty of accommodation in Oban to choose from ( please Google or use Booking.com) but be aware of any distance to the ferry terminal. Alrthough an early start and long day with much of it at sea, the scenery on a Summer day is breathtaking. Tiree is relatively flat so walking will be on the agenda and of course a lunch . Very relaxed way of life on the island so we can decide once on Tiree. The ferry will be comfortable with plenty of scope for a nap especially on the return journey. ( bring ear plugs and eye mask )
Please note that return foot passenger travel is very cheap but feel free to bring a flask and water and packed lunch. We will have dinner on board the ferry ( Calmac food is excellent ) .... don’t forget to pack sunscreen and a hat. The scenery is best appreciated from the top deck. We might even be treated to a coastguard exercise along the way/ or crew drill which is worth witnessing. Also a good chance of spotting dolphins, porpoises and minke whales along the way.
If the weather is forecast is to be Inclement I will give fair notice at least two days in advance. (When booking accommodation please book using the cancellation option ) This would be a futile meet up in wet and gusty conditions hence an outside chance of meet up cancellation ...
